Start --> Run

Type “msconfig”

Goto the “startup” tab

Disable “msnmsgr” that is stored in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

Save and reboot

A message will appear saying “You have a selected start up”

Goto Start --> run

Type “explorer c:\windows\system32”

If necessary “Show hidden contents”

Delete the file called msnmsgr.exe (don’t worry, that is not the REAL msn messenger)

Then go to Start --> run --> regedit

Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIENE\software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\run

Delete “windows load – reg_sz – c:\windows\system32\msnmsgers.exe”

Go back to “msconfig”

Select “Normal Startup”

Reboot
